International Association of Fire Chiefs
Fire Data Analysis Working Group (FireDAWG)

Workshops dedicated to advancing the practice and adoption of fire and all-hazards data analysis.

Background

The fire service is not just putting out flames but embracing a data-driven revolution. Fire and emergency service organizations generate and analyze more information than ever, empowering innovative preventative measures, faster response times, and ultimately, saved lives and property.

However, a critical missing piece exists: standardization. With the Fire Data Analyst role rapidly evolving, fire departments lack consistent guidelines and training pathways. Enter the Fire Data Analysis Working Group (FireDAWG), your opportunity to be at the forefront of this transformative wave.

Born from Demand:

Recognizing the urgent need for a unified vision, the IAFC hosted a Fire Data Analysis meeting in August 2022. The response was overwhelming: over 240 leaders, analysts, and technologists gathered, demonstrating the fire service's thirst for data-driven solutions.

The resounding message? We need a dedicated platform to:

  • Formalize the Fire Data Analyst role through established standards and best practices.
  • Build a thriving community where leaders, analysts, and vendors can collaborate and share expertise.
  • Equip fire departments with the resources to harness the power of data successfully.

Join the Vision, Shape the Future:

The FDAWG is not just a working group but a catalyst for change. Imagine a future where:

  • Data analysts are seamlessly integrated into every fire department, driving informed decision-making.
  • Leaders confidently leverage data to optimize resource allocation, enhance training, and prevent fires.
  • Firefighters benefit from data-driven insights that keep them safer and more effective.
