Spotlight on Vietnam War Commemoration: Honoring Heroes 50 Years On

On August 13, Major General Peter M. Aylward (U.S. Army Retired) gave a Command Brief to the IAFC board of directors about the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Aylward showed a video, “A Moment of Truth,” and provided background on the Vietnam War Commemoration Program.

Chiefs Dean, Fincher, Dio and Clemmensen are veterans of the Vietnam War.The IAFC is proud to be a commemorative partner in the 50th Anniversary program, which was created with these objectives:

  • To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as POWs or listed as MIA, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.
  • To highlight the service of the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and the contributions of federal agencies and governmental and nongovernmental organizations that served with, or in support of, the Armed Forces.
  • To pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front by the people of the United States during the Vietnam War.
  • To highlight the advances in technology, science and medicine related to military research conducted during the Vietnam War.
  • To recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by the allies of the United States during the Vietnam War.

The IAFC would like to remember and honor all veterans and their families—and the men and women coming off today’s battlefields. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do!
