Meet Firefighter Jamie Rychard from the Burlington Fire Department in Ontario, Canada. He recently reached out to the IAFC with his interest to work together on best practices for mental health and wellness. We were able to connect him with leaders of the IAFC’s Volunteer and Combination Officers Section (VCOS) who invited him to join their steering committee. Jamie Rychard has been an IAFC member since August 2018. He’s been a firefighter for 18 years and has a degree in Psychology. He’s a strong advocate for mental and behavioral health in the fire service. He recently presented about this topic at the IAFC’s annual conference, Fire-Rescue International.
