The IAFC Foundation, promoting higher education and research in the fire services, has received a $50,000 grant as part of the Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Public Safety and Security Institute. The Motorola Solutions Foundation is the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. Through the grant, the IAFC Foundation will expand two of its existing scholarship programs.
The Motorola Solutions Foundation’s Public Safety Grants aim to support safety education and training programs for first responders, their families and the general public in the United States and Canada.
“The IAFC Foundation is honored to be awarded a Motorola Solutions Foundation grant in the amount of $50,000. This grant will allow us to continue to give back to the fire service and our local communities by financially supporting future fire service leaders and ensuring that fire and emergency services personnel have the tools they need to successfully serve and protect our communities. The IAFC Foundation scholarship awards are important now more than ever as many departments have been forced to cut continuing education and tuition reimbursements from their operating budget,” said Anthony P. Campisi, president of the IAFC Foundation and president/CEO of the Glatfelter Insurance Group.
This generous donation from the Motorola Solutions Foundation will allow the IAFC Foundation to expand its Future Leaders and its Company Officer Leadership Symposium scholarship awards.
The Company Officer Leadership Symposium program is designed to help company officers at various levels in their career to excel in their current position while getting the leadership training needed to advance. Three individuals will be awarded scholarships to attend all three years of the Company Officer Leadership Symposium.
The IAFC Foundation’s Future Leaders Scholarship advances the fire service by helping first responders ensure they are well prepared to face the challenges of today's increasingly complex world by helping them advance their fire service education. Six annual scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000, will be awarded over the next three years for the Future Leaders formal educational pursuits.
“Aligning with Motorola Solutions’ purpose to help people be their best in the moments that matter, the Motorola Solutions Foundation is honored to support first responders and their families through program funding that bolster safety and education,” said Matt Blakely, director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “Through the Public Safety Grants, we partner with programs like the IAFC Foundation to ensure first responders have access to the necessary tools and resources they need to succeed.”
