Bruce Johnson, Senior Regulatory Engineer in the Codes & Advisory Services department received the Excellence in Fire & Life Safety Award. The award honors those who have dedicated themselves to saving lives and property through the development of codes, fire-prevention practices and leadership techniques. The award is sponsored by the International Code Council (ICC) and the Fire & Life Safety Section (FLSS) of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and is presented annually during the IAFC Fire Rescue International conference.
This award recognized Bruce's long history of commitment; skill and perseverance toward promoting fire safety that rise above the norm and deserve special recognition. Prior to joining the UL team Bruce served as a town fire marshal, training academy fire instructor, and volunteer fire fighter and chief. He has served on fire code development committees, arson task forces, wildfire task forces and a terrorism response task force.
