The 2023 EFO and Leadership Symposium will be held April 14-15 at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This free event is for EFO alumni, EFO students, and fire and EMS leaders.
The EFO Symposium Committee has planned a robust two-day program, including:

- Remember, We All Rise When We Lift Others…Keys to Wellbeing and Building Resilience in Ourselves and Others
- Character Based Leadership and How it Influences How We Lead
- From the Laboratory to the Fireground: Leading the Change in Modern Fire Control Strategies
- Red Team Thinking: A Powerful Decision-Making Methodology First Developed by the Military and Intelligence Community
- Leadership Lessons from the Battle of Gettysburg
- Orienting: Retooling the Front Seat Rider’s Brain to Take Deliberate Action and Resolve Crises with Intent
- Leadership Lessons on Valentine’s Day
For those staying on campus, bus transportation will be provided to and from BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. Free lodging will be provided at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC). Everyone will need to purchase a meal ticket.
Under current NETC guidelines for health and safety, COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged but they are not required.
