Our response environment is changing as the world transitions to an electric future, this program will work to educate the fire chief on the wholistic approach the fire department must take when responding and preparing their organization in a rapidly changing world of electrification. As new Electrical Vehicle (EVs) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) using Lithium-Ion technologies are presenting challenges that will continue to face our organizations.

- Attendees will need to develop an action plan and which stakeholders to review key suppression activities
- Discuss suppression options and when to let it burn

Fire Chief, Brighton Area Fire Authority, Chair of the IAFC Lithium-Ion Battery Work Group. Chief O’Brian is the International Director for the IAFC Fire and Life Safety Section. Chief O’Brian is the past chair of the ICC Fire Code Action Committee and serves as the chair of the IAFC Lithium-Ion Workgroup.
