The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative (WFI) is a groundbreaking collaboration between the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is dedicated to standardizing wellness and fitness guidelines across all fire departments to ensure that every firefighter has access to the comprehensive resources they need for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Standardization: The initiative seeks to make wellness programs universally applicable and accessible.
Comprehensive Approach: It emphasizes the importance of physical, mental, and emotional health for recruits, active firefighters, and retirees.

Recent Developments: In October 2024, a meeting in Washington, DC, brought together 58 subject matter experts to discuss the future direction of the WFI.
