More Than $1B Available for Firefighters Grants

Grants totaling more than $1 billion are available for firefighters. FEMA is accepting applications for all three of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program's FY21 grants, with the first due approaching on January 21.

The application period for the Assistance to Firefighters Grants ($414 million) closes at 5 PM ET on January 21. These grants focus on enhancing the public's safety and firefighters concerning fire and fire-related hazards.

The application period for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants ( $560 million) closes at 5 PM ET on February 4. SAFER grants focus on improving the capability of recipients to attain and maintain fire department staffing and to assure that their communities have adequate protection.

The application period is also open for the Fire Protection and Safety (FP&S) grants ($46 million) and will close at 5 PM ET on February 18. The FP&S grants focus on enhancing the safety of the public and firefighters.
