The International Code Council has opened the Online Governmental Consensus Voting as part of the 2024 Group A Code Development process. The fire service provides a key vote in the code development process, and the FLSS encourages our organizations to get engaged in the process. The voting process is crucial to the entire code development process.
It’s important to note that organizations with voting rights in the ICC process had to previously validate voters in order to be eligible to be a part of this vote. Fire service leadership must work to educate their voting representatives and get them engaged and educated to make informed decisions during the process.
The designated voter is encouraged to review the various code proposals, committee action, as well as action during the public comment hearings. The International Code Council has an outstanding system that allows the voter to review the testimony, changes, and action from the committee.
The
following are just a few examples of changes that impact our community and the fire service, and need action by voting representatives.
