Chiefs Urged to Review Active Shooter Plans

Our hearts are heavy for the senseless loss of life in Parkland, Florida. We pray that the family and friends of the victims somehow find peace and comfort. Further, we commend all those who responded to the emergency under such difficult circumstances.

In light of this tragedy, fire chiefs are urged to review their plans for active shooter events, especially for schools, churches and other areas with vulnerable populations.

The IAFC has developed an Active Shooter Tool Kit for IAFC members to find information of how to protect firefighters and the general population; how to work with law enforcement and lessons learned from incidents. We also have other resources, like the Terrorism Response Checklist and  Guide available on our Large-Scale Response page.
