Unofficial Results: Eggleston Elected 2nd VP

Fairfax, Va. --The unofficial results of the IAFC election have been returned and show that Chief Dan Eggleston, Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue (Va.), has received the majority of the IAFC members’ votes and will become the IAFC's second vice president in July at Fire-Rescue International (FRI) in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I commend Chief Eggleston and Chief Larry Few for offering their candidacies and running professional campaigns to help lead our great organization,” said Chief John Sinclair, IAFC president and chairman of the board.

The following elections were uncontested:

  • Chief Tom Jenkins, Rogers (Ark.) Fire Department, for IAFC president and chairman of the board
  • Chief Gary Curmode, Copper Mountain (Colo.) Fire Department, for IAFC first vice president

  The results will be presented to IAFC membership at FRI.

IAFC Constitution and Bylaws

Members also approved several proposed amendments to the IAFC Constitution and Bylaws:

  • Article I. Section 4. Bonding of Officers
    Move the entire section without change to the IAFC Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Bylaws Section IV. Rules of Order
    Move the entire section without change to the IAFC Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Article V. Section 2. Composition of the Board
    Language changed to make the seats on the IAFC Board of Directors currently held by the EMS, Fire & Life Safety and Safety, Health & Survival Sections permanent seats and to allow any other section to request a board seat if that section’s membership is equivalent to or greater than 10% of the total IAFC membership.
  • Article III. Section 3. Removal from Office
    Language is added to permit removal of an IAFC officer in the event he or she becomes impaired physically or mentally to such an extent that he or she is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office.
  • Article III. Section 2. Elected Officer Eligibility
    Language is added for the position of treasurer that the candidates must meet the current position requirements as adopted by the IAFC Board of Directors.
  • Article IV. Section 1. Duties of Officers
    Language detailing specific duties of the treasurer is removed and moved to IAFC policy.
  • Article V. Section 4 (3) Subsection 2 A. CBR Committee
    Change the term of the chair of the CBR Committee from one year to three years.
