Register for the Safety Stand Down Webinar: “Project Mayday”

This year’s Safety Stand Down week takes place June 18-24 with the theme Mayday, self-rescue, and rapid intervention. To support this theme and prepare departments for the Safety Stand Down, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) is hosting a webinar on June 12 at 1 PM ET entitled “Project Mayday.”

The webinar will introduce attendees to Project Mayday and will address issues dealing with prevention, standard operating procedures, training, and operational enforcement. Most maydays can be prevented, but all areas need to be addressed at all levels within the organization. The presentation will be given by Chief Donald Abbot (Ret.), Project Mayday manager.

Safety Stand Down is a joint initiative of the IAFC Safety, Health and Survival Section and the National Volunteer Fire Council, in conjunction with national and international fire and emergency service organizations. Departments are encouraged to suspend all non-emergency activities during the week in order to focus on training and education related to this year’s theme. Additional resources and planning materials are available on the event’s web site at www.SafetyStandDown.org.
