Fairfax, Va. – The IAFC is saddened by the apparent loss of more than 50 firefighters and others who reportedly perished during a massive fire in a high-rise building Thursday in Tehran, Iran. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fellow first responders of the fallen and for all the injured.
While we do not yet know all the details, tragedies such as this serve as a grim reminder of the inherent risks every firefighter willfully accepts. Our mission as leaders of the international fire and emergency service is to prepare our departments for all hazards and all situations.
