IAFC Recognizes Randolph Mantooth, West Allis FD and Spokane Valley FD in Annual Fire-Rescue Med Awards

The International Association of Fire Chiefs recognized the winners of the annual James O. Page Award and the Heart Safe Community Awards during the annual Fire-Rescue Med virtual conference, Tuesday July 12, 2022.

Actor and EMS advocate Randolph Mantooth, best known for his role as Paramedic Johnny Gage on the groundbreaking show “Emergency!” was awarded the James O. Page Award, sponsored by Public Consulting Group.

The James O. Page Award, named for the visionary leader in fire-service-based EMS, is presented annually to an individual who has played a key role in creating and/or promoting non-clinical innovation and achievements in fire-service EMS management and leadership.

“To be honored by men and women who have dedicated their lives and careers to public safety, it humbles me,” Mantooth said, in accepting the award. “I’m so grateful.”

The IAFC also presented the annual Heart Safe Community Awards to the West Allis Fire Department, West Allis, WI and the Spokane Valley Fire Department, Spokane Valley, WA.

The Heart Safe Community Awards, sponsored by the PulsePoint Foundation, are presented to one fire department serving a large community (population of over 100,000) and one fire department serving a small/mid-sized community (population under 100,000). Awardees have demonstrated creative approaches to improving therapies for patients with Acute Coronary Syndromes and sudden cardiac arrest.
