Chantilly, Va. – The
International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and
1-800-BOARDUP are pleased to announce five scholarship awards for women chief officers to attend Chief's Edge at
Fire-Rescue International (FRI), August 8-11, in Dallas, Texas. The inaugural scholarship program was developed to promote executive-level development for women chief officers in fire and EMS.
The scholarships include complimentary registration for the Chief’s Edge leadership program on Tuesday, August 7, and all-access registration for FRI. The 2018 scholarship winners are:
- Chief Kelli Flermoen, Minot (North Dakota) Fire Department
- Battalion Chief Zina Gresham, DeKalb County (Georgia) Fire Rescue
- Assistant Chief Stephanie Harpring, Thornton (Colorado) Fire Department
- Battalion Chief Marci Stone, Roanoke (Virginia) Fire-EMS
- Assistant Chief Sarah McCrea, Las Vegas (Nevada) Fire & Rescue
FRI, the annual conference and expo of the IAFC, provides senior-level leadership training to fire chiefs. As an organization, the IAFC represents the world's leading experts in the first responder community.
Chief's Edge is an intense seminar which takes a fresh look at leadership principles, fosters extensive peer-to-peer interaction, and provides the practical skills needed to become a more effective leader. Participants will:
