EVMS Presents 2017 Boyd Cole Award

The IAFC’s Emergency Vehicle Management Section (EVMS) and UL proudly announce the winner of the 2017 Boyd Cole Award, Mitch James. The award recognizes an educator, trainer or facilitator of emergency vehicle technicians training.

Mr. James is an EVT, customer product support specialist and field trainer for True North Emergency Equipment based in Hillsboro, Oregon. He has used his knowledge to instruct customers and mentor many new coworkers, encouraging them to seek EVT certifications. He teaches to always “do the right thing” and above all, echoing Cole’s life, to be safe. Over the past 27 years, working in the fire-apparatus industry, Mr. James has helped deliver hundreds of fire engines and performed countless hours of orientation and training for the departments he serves.

Our thanks to the Washington State Fire Mechanics, a division of the Washington State Fire Chiefs Association, for nominating Mr. James.

The award was presented by EVMS Chair David Dock at the EVTCC Validation Conference in January 2018.
