The IAFC published this document in 2006 as a guide for fire chiefs and community leaders to better manage volunteer firefighters for Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance. The IAFC and VCOS are proud to demonstrate our continued commitment to improving the national atmosphere for volunteers through federal legislation, interpretation and initiatives by now making this document available to America’s fire and emergency service as a downloadable document.
