Self paced | Online

The Rural Response to Rail Incidents is an online awareness-level training course (2 hr) on responding to a rail incident with hazardous materials. This course is the result of the combined efforts of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), Association of American Railroads (AAR), International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), the IAFC Hazmat Committee, and American Shortline and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRA). It was made possible by the ALERT Grant from DOT PHMSA.

This training is designed to help you better understand the rail industry, response efforts, and agency-specific roles should a train derailment or similar incident occur; and help you understand the unified and coordinated response activities to a train derailment.
