A major North American energy company, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, developing and operating energy infrastructure in North America. Its pipeline network includes approximately 2,150 miles of oil pipeline, plus approximately 35,418 miles of wholly owned and 7,146 miles of partially owned gas pipeline that connects with virtually all major gas supply basins in North America. TC Energy is one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services with approximately 407 billion cubic feet of storage capacity. TC Energy also owns, or has interests in, approximately 11,800 megawatts of power generation.

Through our partnership with the TC Energy Corporation, we support training on pipeline emergency response and preparedness for the men and women who help keep our communities safe. This includes support for online training resources as well as in-person training sessions for emergency responders and agencies.

Propane Education and Research Council (PERC)

Propane Education and Research Council (PERC)

This is a check-off program established, operated, and funded by the propane industry. PERC programs benefit a variety of industries including fleet vehicle management, landscaping, residential and commercial building, agriculture, and material handling.

Our partnership involves a free, online training to first responders that delivers a convenient and effective course through the IAFC Academy that parallels the successful framework of the Hydrogen Response Considerations course. we’re also working together to enhance PERC’s Propane Emergencies Program, by building interactive online courses that highlights the core components of the Propane Emergencies text book and transforms the current Propane Emergencies Scenario Training into an e-learning class within the IAFC Academy.

Community Safety (CS) Grant

The CS grant enhances the capability of communities to prepare for and respond to hazmat accidents and incidents and supports the training of state and local enforcement personnel who are responsible for enforcing the safe transportation of hazmat.

The CS grant is competitively awarded to non-profit organizations.

Funding: $1 million

Examples: HMR training; roadside inspection training; community awareness training

Assistance for Local Emergency Response Training (ALERT)

The ALERT grant promotes hazmat response training for volunteer or remote emergency responders. Response activities include the transportation of crude oil, ethanol, and other flammable liquids by rail consistent with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

The ALERT grant is competitively awarded to non-profit organizations capable of delivering an established curriculum to emergency responders.

Funding: Based on the amount recovered from prior year grant awards

Examples: Direct delivery training on crude oil, ethanol, and other flammable liquids by rail; web-based training for volunteer or remote emergency responders
